Light
Whether it is natural or artificial, the source and the amount of light will affect your choice of color and thus the reflections of that color about you and your home. The size of the windows, whether the house is facing north or south, the use of white or yellow light sources may cause you to perceive the color differently. If your house is facing north, you can paint your walls in warm shades, whereas, if it is facing south, you can prefer cold shades.
Surfaces, Patterns and Textures
Don't forget that each furniture has its own character. Patterns and textures effect color reflections. A paint with high-gloss that you use on your walls will cause the other surrounding colors look much weaker and lighter due to the light it reflects. Moreover, adjacent surfaces like walls and floors effect the shade and detail of the color with their reflections. A wall color that is selected in line with the pattern of your carpet, sofa and bed spread wpuld highlight the room's features.
Color and Mood
Even though we give similar reactions to colors, our experiences, cultures, memories may cause us to love some colors more and some less. Specific colors have specific moods. If you prefer simplicity and nature, the earth tones are for you. If you say that you are both strong and beautiful, you may stick with yellow shades. If you want to be peaceful and calm, we recommend you to try shades of pink. If you want energy and dynamism, you should prefer green shades as the symbol of creativity and courage.
